Terms of Use

These terms apply to Sudoku Classic: Legacy Puzzle — this website at sudokulegacy.com, and the Android and iOS builds of the game. Together they are called "the Service" below.

1. Accepting these terms

By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use it — there is nothing to cancel and no account to close.

2. Who we are

PVH Game Studio is a trading name rather than a registered company: the Service is made and published by an independent developer based in Vietnam, working as an individual.

There is no company behind the name, no business registration number, and no registered office. Where these terms say "we" or "us", they mean that one developer.

3. What we provide

A Sudoku game, free of charge: a browser version at sudokulegacy.com/play, and Android and iOS builds of the same game. Puzzles are generated on your own device, there is no account, and nothing you play is sent to us.

4. Where the game is available

The game is not published or distributed in Vietnam.

Offering a game to players in Vietnam requires a licence that is granted to registered companies, and PVH Game Studio is an independent developer working as an individual rather than a company, so no such licence is held. The game is therefore not offered, published, advertised or distributed to players in Vietnam, and the app-store listings exclude it.

This is a question of licensing rather than of where the work is done: the developer is based in Vietnam, while the game is published only in the other countries the app stores reach.

For the same reason the game does not ship a Vietnamese-language interface. If you are in Vietnam, please do not use the Service.

How this is applied

The restriction is not left to good faith alone. Requests to this website are checked against the country they arrive from, and requests from Vietnam are served a notice that the game is unavailable rather than the game — on the web pages, and on the game files behind them. The mobile builds are excluded from Vietnam in the app stores' own availability settings. How the country check works, and what it does with your network address, is set out in section 5 of the privacy policy.

You must not attempt to defeat that restriction — by proxy, VPN, address spoofing, sideloading, obtaining the application from an unofficial source, or any other means. Doing so is a breach of these terms, and it does not create a licence to use the Service in a territory where none is granted: section 6's licence is limited to territories where the Service is offered, so there is nothing to rely on if you circumvent this. Access may be refused or withdrawn at any time, and no country check is exact, so it may occasionally refuse someone it should not — if that has happened to you, write to the support address in section 19.

This page and the privacy policy remain readable from every territory, including the ones the game is not offered in. They are where the position is explained, and withholding them would defeat the point of writing them down.

5. Eligibility

The Service is a puzzle game suitable for a general audience and requires no account. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms on your own where you live, use it with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

6. Licence to use the Service

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial enjoyment, in a territory where it is offered. That licence does not let you:

• copy, sell, rent, sublicense or otherwise distribute the Service or any part of it;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction;
• remove or alter any notice of ownership it carries; or
• use it to build a competing product, or extract its puzzle generator for use elsewhere.

7. How you may use it

The Service has no accounts, no messaging and no user-submitted content, so there is little scope for misconduct. What we do ask:

• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to this website or its servers.
• Do not use automated means to scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for anyone else.
• Do not use the Service in a way that breaks the law where you are.

8. Our content

The Service — its source code, artwork, sounds, interface, written content and the name Sudoku Classic: Legacy Puzzle — belongs to the developer behind PVH Game Studio or to its licensors, and is protected by copyright and trade mark law.

Sudoku itself is a classic logic puzzle in the public domain. Nothing here claims ownership of the puzzle form, and this Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other Sudoku publisher or website.

The typefaces used across the Service — Fredoka and Titan One — are licensed under the SIL Open Font License; their licence texts ship alongside the files.

9. Advertising and purchases

The Service is free and, on mobile, is paid for by advertising. The browser version carries no advertising at all. The Android and iOS builds display a banner supplied by Google AdMob; what that involves is set out in the privacy policy.

There are currently no in-app purchases and no subscriptions anywhere in the Service. If that changes, these terms and the privacy policy will be updated before it ships, and any purchase would be handled by the relevant app store under its own terms and refund policy — not by us.

10. Your game data

Your saved game, statistics, best times and settings are stored on your own device, not on our servers. We therefore cannot restore them, transfer them between your devices, or recover them if you clear your browser storage or uninstall the app. Keep that in mind before clearing site data.

11. Links, stores and third-party services

The Service links to pages we do not control — the studio's own site, and the policies of Google and Sentry referenced in the privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any third-party site, and their terms apply when you are on them.

The mobile builds include the Google Mobile Ads SDK, whose use is subject to Google's own terms, and are distributed through the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store under those stores' terms.

12. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. That includes adding or removing features, changing how difficulty grades are generated, changing which territories the game is offered in, and taking the website offline for maintenance.

The Service is run by one person. There is no guaranteed uptime and no support commitment beyond a good-faith reply to the address below.

13. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of anything harmful, or that any defect will be corrected.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service — including the loss of a saved game or a streak.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the Service, which for a free game is nothing.

15. Termination

Your licence ends if you stop using the Service, and we may end it if you breach these terms. Since there is no account, ending it in practice means uninstalling the app or closing the site. Sections 8, 13, 14 and 17 survive termination.

16. Privacy

What the game and this website do with data is set out in the privacy policy, and Your Data explains how to erase everything the game has kept.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, where the developer behind PVH Game Studio is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not affect any mandatory consumer protection you have under the law of the country you live in.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and the updated terms apply from the moment they are published here. Continuing to use the Service after that is your acceptance of them.
